HELEN MERRILL
SINGS THE BEATLES
XRCD24
Often compared to Billie Holiday, Helen Merrill is considered one of the top Jazz Vocalists of her time. She has recorded over 40+ albums in the last 40+ years including her hit album “What’s New”, considered by many in Japan as the best jazz album in the last 50 years. Helen Merrill “Sings the Beatles” is a dedication to the sound of the Beatles and was recorded in Japan and originally released in 1970. It was recorded live in the studio and arranged by Japanese pianist Masahiko Satoh. All the songs for this album were picked with the help of her son, Allan Merrill, writer of such Pop Hits as “I Love Rock & Roll” and “When the Night Comes”. Hear on this album such classic Beatles tunes as “Let it be”, “Lady Madonna”, and “Here There and Everywhere” with the warm sound that only XRCD24 can deliver! BILL EVANS/TONY BENNETT
THE TONY BENNETT & BILL EVANS ALBUM
XRCD2
Bill Evans rarely accompanied singers. Tony Bennett's flawless ear told him that Evans' sensitivity, touch and deep harmonic wisdom would make him a perfect collaborator. Evan's lyrical, singing piano lines illuminate Bennett's supreme interpretation of lyrics.
"Overall, this fine new audiophile remastering reinforces the warmth of the sound and the rich intimacy of the two innovators, seemingly overheard in the process of pure creation." - Chip Stern.
Musicians: Tony Bennett, vocals;
Bill Evans, piano. |

BILL EVANS
EVERYONE DIGS BILL EVANS
XRCD
The legend of Bill Evans really begins with this album. The pianist had just spent most of 1958 with one of the major units in jazz history: the Miles Davis sextet.
His fellow musicians already knew his worth (the album title was almost literally accurate) and with this record, the jazz public began to follow their lead.
Aided by Philly Joe Jones and Sam Jones, Evans set down some of his most swinging trio sides in addition to the remarkable and haunting solo improvisation called Peace Piece. |

BILL EVANS TRIO
AT SHELLY'S MANNE-HOLE, HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA

This last album Bill Evans made for Riverside, one of only two occasions when he recorded "live" for the label. These two nights at Shelly Manne’s club in Hollywood marked the only recording by the excellent "third" trio featuring bassist Chuck Israels and drummer Larry Bunker.
Collectors have long recognized this album for its astonishing sound quality. |
